  1. Students must be passing at least six (6) classes in order to tryout for cheerleading.

  2. Physical forms must be up to date and on file prior to tryouts.

  3. Students must be entering the 8th grade for the 2017-18 school year.

  4. Cheer constitution must be read, signed & dated by parents and cheerleaders prior to day one of tryouts.  Signed constitutions will be collected first thing on day one of tryouts.


  1. Tryouts will be held at Dawson County Middle School on March 21st, 22nd & 23rd from 3:15 PM - 4:30 PM.

  2. All tryout sessions are mandatory.

  3. Team rosters will be posted by midnight on March 24th on the DCJH website.  Cheerleaders who make the team will be listed by tryout number.

  4. All decisions made by the coaches are final. No cheerleaders will be able to re-tryout or make up missed tryout days.

  5. Cheerleaders must be able to cheer for both football & basketball seasons.

  6. Only students, coaches, administrators and judges are allowed in the building where tryouts are being held.  Failure to comply will disqualify the student from making the squad.

  7. Students must wear proper attire at tryouts (white shoes, hair in a ponytail, solid color shorts & solid color t-shirt.  No skirts or jewelry allowed. Cheer bow optional.)

  8. Note: All former cheerleaders must complete all paperwork and try out each year.  No one will be automatically reinstated.

  9. Team size will be determined by the coach(es).

  10. A sample copy of tryout rubrics will be provided at the meeting on February 23rd.
